For the first time on this trip, we spent two nights in the same spot, but now it was time to move on. The village of Chulilla was compact and could be explored in a day, so we headed toward a new destination. The previous evening I had browsed Google Maps for interesting places and found the Fonts de l'Algar waterfalls.
Along the way the scenery was gorgeous, and we drove through several charming small villages. Near Fonts de l'Algar the road narrowed. Stepping out of the van, a happy surprise awaited: for the first time on this trip, it was warm enough outside for shorts and a t-shirt!

Waterfalls and swimming
The Fonts de l'Algar waterfalls were impressive. The water was crystal clear and the area was full of naturally formed pools. At this time of year, we had the place almost to ourselves.
First we plunged into a pool on the lower section. The water was surprisingly cold, but the warm air made it refreshing. We continued upstream where a larger waterfall roared in a rock hollow. The Spanish watched us in amazement as we swam in the cold water – clearly winter wasn't swimming season for them!
The river route eventually ran through dense forest until the path ended.
To the Costa Blanca coast
We headed toward the Costa Blanca coast looking for a suitable overnight spot. On the way we noticed a sign on the other side of the motorway that resembled a motorhome toilet emptying point marker. We found a service station with a maintenance point for motorhomes.
As evening fell, we decided to find a night spot. We ended up in the El Campello area. We found a spot with stunning views over the sea and city. The place was quiet and peaceful.
Fonts de l'Algar offered wonderful nature experiences, and the day was full of adventure and beautiful scenery.
