For our first trip with the Benimar motorhome, we set off shortly after getting it equipped for living. For the maiden voyage we wanted a destination close to Helsinki, so the trip would be easy and stress-free – especially since our cats Heinis and Viltsu came along.
Jessika found the destination by Googling nice wild camping spots near the capital region. The choice fell on Köttboda beach in Porvoo, which was perfect for a short getaway.
We packed the van for a short adventure. The Benimar's spacious interior made it easy to bring the pets along. The cats' litter box fit neatly in the van's rear 'garage.'
Already during the drive, it became clear that our cats weren't quite used to their mobile home – the journey was accompanied by meowing. The last stretch of road was narrow and somewhat rough from spring rains, but the Benimar drove steadily.
At the destination
A real gem awaited: we parked the van right by the seaside, and we were the only people in the entire area. The parking lot was new, level, and spacious – a perfect stopping place. We spent a sunny and peaceful day outside with the cats.
The Benimar proved to be a spacious and functional travel home. Viltsu settled into the new environment surprisingly well, but Heinis was a bit nervous about the change of scenery.
The night passed comfortably sleeping in the van, though the cats woke us occasionally for their exploration missions. Köttboda beach remained in our memory as an atmospheric and peaceful destination.
